Hostage Negotiation Training Course

The NYS Association of Hostage Negotiators in conjunction with the Fairport Police Department is conducting a five-day Hostage Negotiation Course. The training will be offered Monday, November 30 – Friday, December 4, 2015 in Monroe County.
This training is designed to develop the student’s abilities to bring crisis situations, which often involve hostages, to successful conclusions through negotiation. Students will learn and be evaluated through their participation in practical scenarios applying the theory learned in classroom sessions. The ideal candidate for selection as a negotiator for barricaded or hostage situations will be a sworn officer with several years of experience, a strong team player, and possess above average interviewing, communication and listening skills. The selected individual must be able to perform under high levels of stress for long periods of time.

-Tactical Negotiations and Incident Command
-Scenario Based Practical Exercises
Individuals attending the training are required to bring, if available, copies of their agency’s policy on negotiations and any forms used by negotiators during crisis negotiations.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be issued an MPTC Certificate of Completion by Division of Criminal Justice Services.
